Dakota Fanning Rape Scene

So i Clipmarked an article today regarding Dakota Fanning's new movie that premiered at Sundance this year. The movie called Hounddog contains a scene where Ms. Fanning's character is raped. The scene is non-explicit, and yet religious critics are calling the movie and outrage, demanding a federal investigation, and citing the movie as child abuse. i have one word for this.

re-fucking-diculous.

This is a film. A cinematic story. End of story.

Bill Donohue, the president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has requested that the U.S. Justice Department to investigate into anti-pornography laws that may have been broken. Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission also claims that child pornography laws have been broken. He goes on to claim that "do not have the ability to make the types of decisions that we're talking about here," which is also absurd to me.

Dakota herself is vehemently defending the film, stating that is just acting, its just a film. Bravo Dakota, Bravo. This 12 year old that "can't make these decisions" is the most sane, rational, and adult voice in the whole discussion. Whats more, she is more upset that critics are taking pop shots at her family, and agent.

To me, this is a case of making a big deal out of nothing. Controversy for the sake of controversy.
